1. Welcome
2. 2009/10 year summary =
* The club now has around 250 members
* In the past 12 months the club has run three competitions, a few parties, a prizegiving/BBQ, a groms beach day, a learn to surf day and an open meeting/forum. It has
* The following businesses are now on board our riders deals programme = Realsurf, Rip Curl, Jam Hair, Bar Bodega, Fusion, Surf and Snow, Real Groovy, Manky Chops. Wildstyle and The Bach have also expressed an interest and should be confirmed soon. We’ll grow this programme and introduce a skills register called ‘A bit on the side’ that enables members to list their area of expertise – kind of a surfing mafia / alternative economy.
* The club is working towards its objectives of Uniting (now 250 members), developing (through comps, events and projects etc) and representing Wgtn’s surfing community (working with council etc). Some positive prjects are gathering momentum and the council + WIAL are quite supportive of the toilets, shower and lights proposals. We’re not there yet by any means but perceived ‘barriers’ are starting to dissappear.
3. Financial report = Russell Millar (treasurer) presented the accounts for the year which were kindly created by Curtis Mclean at no charge to the club. The accounts were accepted by all who were present.
4. Election of committee members. Two members emailed nominations through. One person nominated the existing committee members and another nominated Kristin. These nominations were tabled and were backed by all who were present. With that in mind, the current committee members will remain in place for a further 12 months. Russell Millar mentioned that it would be good to get other members on board within sub committees which work on specific projects. Hamish said he’d be up for that and has volunteered to assist James Whitaker with fundraising.
5. Other business = Ilan Fisher mentioned that The Bach and Wildstyle are keen to join the rider deals programme. Donna mentioned that the Regional Council was cnsulting re: storm water run off – although the consultation period has now closed the club will still form a sub committee that focuses on water quality and other environmental issues. That sub committee will present the club’s views to the regional council. Jeff suggested that the club arrange a clean up the beach day – all agreed.
Club party on 21 August – the club is probably going to purchase a board that will be given away on the night. the committee will fine tune plans for the party over the coming week.”
